Working with Negative Coworkers
The reason why some coworkers choose to be bullies, gossipers, and to engage in other negative acts is because they are internally bankrupt. Ironically, their internal bankruptcy is due to their very own jealousy/hate of others. And if you are someone that is positive, kind, honest, and hard working — watch out! because you’re their prey.
See, as a positive person, you are in direct opposition of negative coworkers (on a specific level), and negative people (on a general level); so these predators are after you. When people are miserable, anyone that is not miserable will trigger their internal lack. Unfortunately, we still have to work with negative coworkers. There’s no avoiding them because they are almost guaranteed in every work environment.
So how do we manage to work with negative coworkers? By working around them. That’s right. You work with them by working around them. The problem with negative coworkers is that they can easily sabotage you at work, and the more you engage with them, the more ammunition they have to set you up for failure. Anything you say to them can and will be used against you.
So first identify your miserable coworker(s), once you’ve identified them, keep interactions as minimal as possible, and when engaging, keep it professional at ALL times. That’s how you work with negative coworkers.
